UNFPA MADAGASCAR
UNFPA works in partnership with governments, other institutions and civil society to advance its mission. Two frameworks guide its activities: The Program of Action adopted at the International Conference on Population and Development in 1994 and the Millennium Development Goals, a set of eight targets aimed at reducing extreme poverty by 2015 Because the dates for achieving these series of solidarity objectives and related targets are rapidly approaching, considerable work has been done to analyze what has produced results, electrify our support and redouble our efforts.
UNFPA in Madagascar
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, works across the world in 156 countries to achieve a world where every birth is desired, every birth is safe and the potential of every young person achieved.
UNFPA has been present in Madagascar since 1978 and is currently implementing its sixth cooperation program with the Government of Madagascar. UNFPA promotes national execution by aligning its interventions with national priorities to ensure national ownership.
Maternal health
UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is a United Nations agency created in 1969 for development. UNFPA aims to achieve universal access to reproductive health and rights including family planning in order to promote reproductive rights, reduce maternal mortality and accelerate progress in implementation of the program of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) and the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 5 to enable underserved populations to improve their living conditions, particularly women and young people.
UNFPA is committed to favoring the most vulnerable groups, in particular women, young people and adolescents. In the fight against maternal deaths, the organization invests in the collection and use of data relating to reproductive health in order to assess the determinants of maternal mortality.
UNFPA recognizes that attitudes and behaviors towards gender and reproductive health vary widely across cultures and adapts its approaches accordingly, while respecting the needs and aspirations of communities. UNFPA also supports projects that enable women to participate fully in the economic development of their country.
