« My name is Prisca, I’m a mother of 04. I live in Ankirihiry, where one often encounters cases of violence against both women and children. However, few women dare to denounce the violence inflicted on them out of fear for their husbands. I sell homemade drinks to support my family because my husband no longer works following the shutting down of factories during the Covid- 19 pandemic”.

When I no longer had enough income for the household, tensions between my husband and I worsened. Faced with this situation, a friend in our neighbourhood with whom I shared my problem advised me to consult the Listening and Legal Advice Center (Centre d'Écoute et de Conseils Juridiques) CECJ in Valpinson, which provides psychosocial support for women who are victims of gender-based violence.

Let's take our future into our own hands! Let's be independent !

I was opportuned to be selected for a training on an Income Generating Activity. I was very motivated during the training and I thank UNFPA for the support with funding from the Japanses government.

With start-up kits and new skills, I intend to open a small eatery. My message to all women is that : "Let's take our future into our own hands! Let's be independent ! "
