FP at Basic health center VohemarVohémar, Madagascar – August 7, 2024: Marie Yolande, a midwife at the Basic Health Center (CSB 2) in Antsahavaribe, Vohémar, shares her experience ensuring continued healthcare provision during the aftermath of Cyclone Gamane. The CSB 2 serves around 13,000 people, half of whom are women, including approximately 3,300 pregnant women.

In this region, the devastating impacts of cyclone GAMANE have severely disrupted access to healthcare services. The inaccessibility of the area led to shortages of essential medicines, hindering the delivery of family planning and reproductive health services.

These kits reinforce our commitment to ensuring that women receive necessary medical attention and support.

As a midwife, Marie Yolande plays a crucial role in family planning and maternal health care. UNFPA's emergency interventions enabled the continuation of these vital services to women in need.

Also, the provision of UNFPA emergency kits through CERF support has been instrumental in supporting healthcare providers, allowing them to maintain care delivery despite the considerable challenges posed by the cyclone.
